Brandon Copeland

I have been involved in the sport of triathlon for just over 4 years now.

Before I began triathlon I did a mix of soccer, swimming, surf life saving and cross country running. My first triathlon was the Kingscliff Triathlon where I led the field out of the water, was overtaken by nearly the whole field on the bike, before running down a few people to finish 5th in my age group.

From then I quickly got hooked on the sport, and went about joining the local triathlon club.  Since then, I have worked my way through the ITU junior ranks to finish my final year with a 4th place at the Australian Junior Triathlon Championships and a ranking of 4th for the entirety of the 2014-2015 Australian Junior series.

I am now racing as an Elite/Under 23 professional athlete on the ITU circuit under coach Dan Atkins.  My results since stepping up to the elite division include a 2nd place in the 2015 Tahiti Oceania Cup and a 4th place at the 2016 Wollongong Oceania Cup. I am currently ranked 180th on the ITU points list and hope to reach the top 100 by the end of the year, enabling me to start racing in World cup events. More recently, I have won the Kingscliff Tri (Open),  the Mooloolaba 5km in a time of 13:58, and 2nd place Gold Coast Triathlon.

My driving factor is to be the very best athlete I can, hopefully that may one day enable me to represent my country at a Commonwealth and Olympic level. I would also love to race in Kona at the Ironman world championships.

I think that through working with Bindi Nutrition I will be able to optimise my training, recovery and racing performance and am looking forward to a long and successful partnership.
